I Hope You’ve Done Your Research…

My first article for Modern Alternative Mama was published over the weekend.

With my first post came a new audience. With a new audience, came comments and questions from people who don’t necessarily know me. One comment caught my attention. The reader wrote: “I hope this writer has done diligent and thorough research concerning vaccines”.

My response: “Thank-you for your concern over whether I have done diligent and thorough research concerning vaccines. That too is my concern for every parent I know. Not only is that my concern, it is also my prayer. My prayer is that every parent would conduct diligent and thorough research independent of what their pediatrician tells them to do”.

My response (and the reason for this post) is not necessarily just for this particular reader, but for every person who has thought or wondered the same thing: Have parents who don’t vaccinate actually done the proper research?

For me personally, I have logged in 7 years and over 5,000 hours of vaccine research.
I’ve been to “med school” and back again.

I’ve done the research. Thorough. Diligent. Thought Provoking. Independent. Exhausting. Devastating. The truth isn’t always fun. Or easy.

Published studies. Medical Literature. Journals. Research conducted by Universities. Webinars. Books. Congressional testimonies. Transcripts. Websites. Blogs. The library.
You name it!

I often wonder how people come to the conclusion that parents who don’t vaccinate might not have done the proper research. Going against the status quo involves a conscious decision. A decision that goes against what is considered “acceptable” and “right” invloves a mindset that is aware, well researched,  and confident.

I recently read an article written by a doctor, writing for a Christian organization website. The article was about how amazing vaccines are and how we as parents need to make sure we get our children vaccinated. The conclusion to the article completely contradicted the point it was trying to make. It was actually very ironic. It read: “In the end, it is your own decision.  And I do believe that all knowledge, whether scriptural, scientific, geologic, economic, or whatever else you can think of, is from God.  He is the author of Truth.  So, when we humans stumble upon Truth, we are only meeting God where He is working already”

Say what??? How is doing what you are told to do (vaccinate your children) considered “stumbling upon truth?” Isn’t it quite the opposite? I had to dig deep to stumble upon truth. And yes, God is the author of Truth. And that truth told me that my 4 children would never receive a single vaccine. Ever.

And the part about “meeting God where is working already”. Really? I meet God where is already working every time I meet a parent of a vaccine injured child and see that they are being led through truth to healing and recovery.

It always astounds me when I hear someone tell a parent who has chosen not to vaccinate  “you have to be really careful when reading stuff off the internet”. As if we sit around reading bunk science off the internet and that’s how we arrived at our decision. No, the internet is what tells us TO vaccinate. The media tells us TO vaccinate. The TODAY show tells us TO vaccinate. The news stories and scare tactics tell us TO vaccinate. Parenting Magazine tells us TO vaccinate. Time Magazine tells us TO vaccinate. Forbes Magazine tells us TO vaccinate. The pediatricians office tells us TO vaccinate. Society tells us to vaccinate.

You have to diligently seek out the research that goes against what mainstream society tells you to do. Ever read the Simpsonwood transcripts? I have. All 262 pages. How about the 80 plus published studies showing the link between vaccines & autism? Still waiting on Matt Lauer to share these studies.

I’m much more cautious of the CDC website which can never given a single reference or source to any of their vaccine data. That’s not research. Just because the CDC website tells me that vaccines saved the world from polio, doesn’t mean I have to believe it. No, I want proof. One year, I spent an entire summer researching polio. The truth of what caused the decline in polio is so far off from vaccines, it’s almost a joke that we still believe it was vaccines. Just read the testimonies of the polio vaccine inventors. Salk & Sabin were pretty cool dudes after all. Read my 4 part POLIO SERIES. Read my Dinner Party Post.

My response to those concerned about just reading “stuff off the internet”.
Yeah, me too. Don’t do it.

I think it’s important to understand parents who don’t vaccinate. Otherwise stereotypes continue to lead our belief systems. Stereotypes keep myths around. The entire vaccine industry is built on stereotypes, myths, lies, scare tactics, and a belief system that is almost impossible to break.  Oh and a whole lotta money.

I think I’ve heard every stereotype given to parents who don’t vaccinate: Crazy, Conspiracy Theorists, Hippies, Uninformed, Misled. Misled by who? The Biomedical Community that is actually healing & recovering vaccine injured kids. I don’t care how big the “anti-vaccine” movement is, it could never compare to the BILLION dollar vaccine industry.

So who are these parents of unvaccinated children? How did they arrive at their decision? Seems like the folks at the CDC had these same questions. The researchers from the CDC published a study in the Journal of Pediatrics. It showed that children who hadn’t received any shots at all tended to come from educated families who had “parents who expressed concerns regarding the safety of vaccines and indicated that medical doctors have little influence over vaccination decisions for their children”.

Of course the vaccine industry’s most well-paid spokesperson Paul Offit had a comment on this study: “The surprising part is that someone who would be better educated would be less likely to get the vaccine,” he said.

Why is that surprising Mr. Offit? You might be a pediatrician, but you also invent vaccines and then vote them on to the vaccine schedule. Are we really supposed to trust you?

The study ended saying: ”It’s an excellent example of how more education and awareness translates to better health. Parents are gradually waking up to the dangers of vaccines. Those who have a university education and a well paid job, are in a better position to research vaccinations and know their rights. Education is power and they and those most invested in health and research are most likely to avoid vaccinations at all costs, a trend that is welcome and timely for future generations”.  -Dr. Mihalovicis a Naturopathic Doctor who specializes in vaccine research.

Let’s read that last sentence again:
“Education is power and they and those most invested in health and research are most likely to avoid vaccinations at all costs, a trend that is welcome and timely for future generations”.

So to the reader that is concerned over my decision and hopes that I have done my diligent and thorough research, I say this: “Thank-you…and right back at ya!”

  1. A thousand times, thank you! I love your articles and the fact that you link to so much research so I can investigate it on my own as well. You are so articulate and yet not arrogant in your delivery. I really appreciate and will make use of your efforts to help increase awareness into this issue that I was tempted to lay to rest because I had resolved it for my own family. There are so many out there who need to hear the whole truth and I care deeply about more than just my own children. You inspire me to continue educating myself and others. Thank you for all you do!

    1. Thank-you so very much for the kind words. I appreciate it. I too care deeply for ALL children, not just my own. It saddens me when I see a sickly child and the parent is led to believe that they were just born that way. It doesn’t have to be that way! Thank-you for your encouragement! Comments like yours, inspire me as well 🙂

  2. Excellent! Thanks for putting into words what has been so frustrating to me since we decided to quit vaccinating our first. It’s very frustrating to be assumed to be making an uneducated decision or following a fad by the very people who are doing just that by blindly following the advice of their ped and media without one bit of research.

  3. THANK YOU!! You said it and nailed it. What scares me MOST is people who do vaccinate, as many as I have met, seldom do any research. Only one Mom in 20 years has told me that she read all the facts, horror stories and all…but went on with vaccines so her son could go to school. ( this is Mississippi folks, don’t jump on me, here we don’t have that golden exemption) Love that more and more people are taking this stand…thank you again for this piece.

    1. Thank-you! I love that more and more people are taking a stand on this too. As more vaccines are added to the schedule, more and more children are injured. And those children have parents who are noticing. Times are changing…

  4. Your writing is thought provoking and right on target. Thank you for saying so eloquently and thoroughly what so many of want to share and yet struggle to put out there.

    1. I’ve learned a lot from the National Vaccine Information Center. They have an excellent database of Gardasil info & research:

Another great website is The Truth About Gardasil. http://truthaboutgardasil.org/

The Journal of Internal Medicine recently released a very eye opening study:
“The abundant evidence now exists that HPV vaccines can cause serious adverse events, including death and long-term disabling autoimmune conditions. Moreover, because currently there are no active surveillance programs for monitoring vaccine safety outcomes anywhere in the world, the true rate of serious ADRs following Gardasil remains unknown.
In context, whilst 12-year-old preadolescents are at zero risk of dying from cervical cancer, they are faced with a risk of death and a permanently disabling lifelong autoimmune or neurodegenerative condition from a vaccine that thus far has not prevented a single case of cervical cancer, let alone cervical cancer death.”

  5. Excellent post, Jess! Congratulations on your first article for Modern Alternative Mama. The world needs more informed parents like you and Rit.

  6. I just came across your blog and LOVE it!! I too have spent YEARS researching this issue. And when I began, I was sure I would conclude that vaccination was the best thing. It’s scary to see how many people truly are uninformed and are NOT making educated choices for their family’s health. Thanks for your efforts!!

    1. Thank-you for the kind words! I’m like you. When I started researching, I wanted to prove that vaccines were 1) safe 2) effective 3) reason for decline in disease. 7 years of research later, and I’ve never been able to prove any of this.

  7. It’s more like parents who DO vaccinate should do the research. I’m guilty of that myself. Had I known then what I know now, I would never have vaccinated. Education is power.

    1. I agree. Most parents I meet who vaccinate, have either not done the research or they consider their pediatrician telling them “vaccines are safe” as research. I rarely meet someone who says they have done the proper research and continues to vaccinate. Proper research does not consist of the CDC website, Every Child By Two, Pharma funded studies, etc…

Or sadly, they learned the hard way. I have way too many friends with vaccine-injured children.

  8. I LOVE your blog! Thanks so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to share with the world! I share your blog posts with my FB group of more than 350 people and I have gotten lots of feedback from parents who are no longer vaccinating. Your blog along with the many articles I post daily are really making a difference! Thanks again!

  9. Thank you – i did the research while in college at least 12 + years ago – so thankful it was long before i had any kids of my own.

    1. Dr. Kurt,
I loved your recent blog. I posted it to my fb page and received an amazing response. What a small world. Keep up the work yourself. We need more doctors like you!

  10. Your children are beautiful. I am so sorry that someone would actually threaten them. Thank you for writing this post! It is so hard to against the norm ESPECIALLY when you are as young as I (24-anti-vaccine since 19) and when you have many friends in the western “sick-care” industry. I love reading blogs like yours, it makes me feel like I am home 🙂 Thank you again and best of luck to you and your gorgeous family 🙂

      1. Do they KNOW they have a vaccine damaged child???? Can’t help you there…once burned I learned all I could and I feel lied to, cheated, used and like I sent my son to war to be killed and nobody cared. I cannot understand why any parent would support damaging their own child, and the children of others.

      2. April, I know it’s been almost 2 years, but if you’re like me, these questions and issues are ongoing! We believe my sister’s autism (which has manifested as severe, violence & screaming & so on, esp. pre-diet) was vaccine-caused. Yet in the past year or so, my dad GOT THE FLU SHOT. My mom “kinda wanted him to be protected” and “It was free at his work” (that’s in the Top Worst Reasons to Get Anything). Sometimes there’s not a lot of consistency between belief and behavior.
I know sometimes I come on strong. I think part of it is about raising parents’ confidence to question. Someone says that the injured child still “needs” the Tdap and MMR–why? Someone says that “at least he didn’t get polio” (unless he did, in fact, get it from the vaccine)–press for some answers on why this is better than polio. Most of all, give them the courage to proclaim that their OWN child matters and they don’t accept this greater-good stuff.
If they don’t believe the child is vaccine injured, it may actually be difficult for any outsider to tell. I think some issues can have more than one cause (even severe autism, though I think far and away the LEADING cause is vaccines).

  11. Thankyou so much. i too threw myself into extensive research when i found out i was pregnant with my first daughter. i read constantly, day in and day out, every scrap of information i could get my hands on, the pro vaccine as well as the anti vaccine.

the result? you could not PAY me to vaccinate my children (i now have 2 beautiful, healthy, un-vaccinated daughters).
and if they werent allowed into school for not being vaccinated?? i would find an alternative. my childrens health, vitality and well-being are far more important than any school and worth more than ANY ammount of money.

Parents, please PLEASE stop blindly accepting the words of healthcare ‘professionals’ as ‘fact’. It was only 30 years ago that these same ‘professionals’ would perform surgery on new born babies without anaesthetic, beleiving that a new born baby was such a primative organism that ‘it’ could not feel pain – even during open heart surgery, only a muscle relaxent would be given to prevent the baby writhing on the operating table.
So when these same ‘professionals’ tell you that formaldehyde, a toxic chemical and known human carcinogen (which is present in all childhood vaccines) wont harm a new 6 week old baby when injected directly into his or her body, do you really trust their judgement? or would you rather do a little research, just in case the health ‘professionals’ are wrong – again.

This article discusses the dangers of formaldehyde (including increased risk of leukeimia in workers exposed to the chemical) now consider that formaldehyde is used in the manufacturing process (used to chemically alter toxins secreted by bacteria) of DTaP-IPV-HepB/hib,Infanrix-hexa. DTaP-IPV,Infanrix-IPV.. thats ALL the routine childhood vaccines.

  12. I am so incredibly encouraged and maybe a little overly excited to have stumbled upon your blog!! Love your passion for research! Thank you thank you for being a strong voice! A true example and challenge to the rest of us unvaccinated families.

  13. Hi, maybe you’ve spoken about this before but I’m a new reader to your blog. I’m pretty new to all the anti vaccine info, but I was wondering, if you do decide to NOT vaccine your child, how do you get around vaccination requirements for schools? Traveling? If homeschooling is an alternative, well, what about parents who aren’t able to homeschool? Is there no option then? Thanks so much! P.S. I’m in NOLA too! 🙂

  14. Another two favorites to add are Rachel Weavers’ “Be Your Own ‘Doctor'” and “Be Your Child’s Pediatrician.” Both are excellent and provide very doable yet thorough instructions on how to use herbs to heal.
