  2. I made a post on September 15 on a discussion about herd immunity, and it is still awaiting moderation. Why? I posed a sincere question that I thought was worth consideration. For what it’s worth, I get less than half of the reccommended vaccines for my kids, so it isn’t like I was coming on here as a pro-vaccine person trying to tear the “herd immunity doesn’t work” argument apart. On the contrary, I think pointing out that for so many years adults and even children were not immune due to their vaccine immunity running out is very important.

  3. Your blog was referred to me by a friend a few weeks ago. I had read several of your articles about Pertussis and vaccinations. I thought I had seen some recommendations you had for protecting our children against Pertussis; however, I have searched and re-read several of your articles and cannot find it. Can you provide some recommendations here or links to articles where you have previously mentioned it? Thank you EVER SO MUCH! My 4 children are unvaccinated and their school called today with confirmation of Pertussis cases within our school.

  4. Thank you! Your prompt and timely response leaves me speechless (well almost, as I seem to be able to manage a thank you!). 🙂 This link is exactly what I was looking for. I have read it through completely and will now pass it along to my husband. He is a chiropractor who also works with Functional Medicine, so there is an abundance of good information that I know he will appreciate.

Being that he is fed a wonderful healthy diet, and already being on herbal immune support, he never got to the ‘awful’ stage of it. He still had a cough for a couple of months but we nipped it and feel grateful for having knowledge on the key to building up the immune system. Being prepared and pro-active is so important.

  5. I just read your post on the Top 5 Comments on Having 5 Kids. I have to share in your absolute disbelief about the things total strangers think they have the right to say. My three children each have different hair colors. My daughter is a “ginger”, my oldest son has DARK brown hair, and my youngest is a dirty blond–it was much lighter when he was younger and the comment I am thinking about was made. I was in line at Costco one day and the lady in line ahead of me turned around, looked at my children, and proceeded to ask if they all have the same father. I was speechless. If you disregard their hair color and really look at their faces there is absolutely no doubt that they are very much related. Oy vey!

  6. Jessica,
I’m inquiring about essential oils. I’m confused with YL website. The premium starter kit on the website only show packets and not all the bottles shown in your pictures. The diffuser looks very small and seems to be a small room diffuser, instead of a regular humidifier. Then, you have to pick a date for monthly delivery? Can you just order once and then as needed only? I need more info, please. Thank you.

    1. The premium starter kit comes with 11 bottles of oil and a nice sized home diffuser. I wonder if you are looking at the wrong starter kit?

You do not have to pick a date for monthly delivery. That is only if you are signing up for Essential Rewards, but you do not have to do that at this time. You can just order the starter kit and order as needed. There is no minimum monthly purchase.

Please let me know if you have more questions. I’m happy to help!

  8. I loved reading your blog. I actually was an addict to narcotics between the ages of 19-21 I’m only going to be 25 now. I struggled for two months when I was 20 when I tried to quit. I just went cold turkey and was sick for two months. I eventually relapsed a few times and every time I quit it was just a nasty withdrawl period for a month or better. I’ve been clean for quite a while. That entry really hit close to home and I really felt for you as I have been there. Not only with narcotics I was also an alcoholic. The narcotic withdraws are so brutal on even an adult I couldn’t imagine watching a newborn go through it. That would kill me, and I would have my doctors head after that. The pain and suffering is far too much. I now have a beautiful son, who I have chosen not to vaccinate but he did receive his first hep B shot. I had adamantly said “no” but my mother and the pediatrician at the hospital pretty much put it in my head he needed it. He’s a month old went in for his one month appointment and I denied the hep B. I dread his two month appointment, this pediatrician is very adamant on all the shots. I did read a whole lot of this blog and really enjoyed it. I feel more educated as well. I have a question or two though, since I don’t want to vax how can I make that perfectly clear to his pediatrician? They all try to convince you it’s for the better of the babies health and those around them. You didn’t vax at all? I wasn’t sure if I had read that or maybe missed it. I just would love to talk to another mom about this since I seem to have no support system of people around me for my choices. Also I had read about exemptions forms or someone had brought it up to me, where can I find these?

    1. Thank-you for sharing your story!!!

Find a pediatrician who will support you. We stopped going to well-baby visits because our babies were well and there was nothing those visits offered.

I’ve been writing on vaccines for 8 years now. Keep reading through my blog posts for more info!

Yes, exemptions forms are available. Depending on what state you live in, find the exemptions available to you. Here is a great link on exemptions:

And lastly, follow your instincts. It’s the most powerful gift God gives us as mothers.

      Many blessings to you!

      1. Hi Jessica, you have a beautiful family!
3 days ago, my son, 18 years old, stepped on a nail, an inch below his big toe) and got an DTap at Walgreens while I was out of town. He could not get a hold of me (i am against against vaccinations), he panicked and went to Walgreens. Now, the wound is all closed and this morning swollen. His armpit is also swollen with pain. Had fever and chills the next day after vaccination that lasted 24 hours. I am home now and I found your site. I did give him a foot soak with Epsom salt (2 cups of salt to 1 gallon of warm/hot water). Any other suggestions for adults that have received vaccinations to minimize side effects and toxins? Any way to pull all that “junk” out of our system?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

        Blessings,
        Mimi

  9. I am so thankful to have found your blog and I’ve been subscribed for months. My LO is also vaccine free and has never been ill. I had a question about your adopted son. How did you manage to avoid shot’s while going through the adoption process? Are there agencies that respect a parent’s right to choose for their adopted child? I was recently discussing adoption with my husband, as we would like to go this route in the future, however I am worried about vaccination. How did you guys do it?

  10. This blog randomly popped up via my Facebook account and the timing was impeccable! I almost live in hiding or shame on the topic of vaccinations for fear of public animosity and condemnation because I chose to not vaccinate my two boys. Even now I fear somehow this link will show on FB that I even commented!! I have friends running rampant ‘passionately’ commenting on the measles NYC vaccine article and since I live in TN, “disowning” Jay Cutler because his wife announced they are not vaccinating etc…..

I have found myself beginning to doubt my choice as this continual bombardment of negative articles are thrust upon me. To find a forum to help support myself (I am a single mother now) in a world of vehement protestors is most welcome!! My boys are 6 & 9 and generally have always been in excellent health.

I find myself living in fear now however… I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic. I fear -What if they are right and my kids contract one of the so-called “preventable” diseases or what if they scratch themselves on a rusty nail and they have not had a tetanus shot? It is hard to turn my brain off and live in peace and confidence that I am not “killing my children” by this choice. My own mother constantly harasses me on this topic sending me article after article against my choice and referencing newscast after newscast…. Surely I am not the only one living with fears of – What if I am wrong??

How do you find such peace? How do you shut down someone when they continually attack your choices? Any help or suggestions are most appreciated 🙂

  11. My first grandchild is expected in May (we are SOOO excited!). I’ve been talking to my daughter (the mom-to-be) about vaccines and making sure she does the research I never knew to do. She’s in public health, so a bit of a hard sell, but she is listening. Is there ONE book that you could recommend I buy her to read? If not one, then a couple? She’s very busy and I don’t want to overwhelm her, but at the same time I want to get her good information. The baby will have to be in daycare, so I don’t know if that will affect her decision to be able to refuse vaccinations. If you have time, I would so appreciate an email from you with recommendations. Thanks so much! ~Suzy Field

  12. Hi, I came across your blog by chance when a friend posted an article on FB. I’m a new mom with a six month old who is unvaccinated, but am struggling with wether I made the right choice or not. From what I’ve read so far, your site is the most scientifically based one I’ve come across and there’s no bashing or name calling which I appreciate. So I just have a few questions: 1) what is a “vaccine-injured child”; 2) What are your thoughts or do you have articles on the tetnus vaccine (where I’m from, it is included in the Infantrix-hexa vaccine, which is tetnus, diptheria, pertussis, polia, hep B and haemophilus influenzae B); 3) My Husband and I want to do more short and long term mission trips. But this means going to countries where the risk of contracting these diseases is significantly higher than in North America. Should we vaccinate in the event that we will be going to one of these countries or not? Thankyou for any advice or articles you can give.

  13. Hi there,
As a concerned parent, when I see a post about how vaccines aren’t safe, I get a bit panicked for a few minutes, because I vaccinate my kids. However, I find that, usually, the author of the book/blog/article/etc, isn’t someone who is educated in immunology, chemistry, biology, etc, or even medicine. For instance, I read in your “about me” section that you have a BA in Psychology and an MA in counseling/education. I totally respect that, and think that’s awesome. However, I am a professor, have a PhD in Psychology, and find that even after almost a decade of intense research training, I sometimes have a hard time correctly critiquing and interpreting studies outside of my specific specialization of psyc, let alone another field in which I have no training (e.g., immunology). With 5 kiddos and what I imagine must be an incredibly busy life, how have you had time to develop an expertise in a field in which you aren’t formally trained? Do you know of any actual immunologists, biologists, chemists, etc, who are working as actual researchers, who have written books, articles, etc, questioning vaccine safety? Again, I’m really not trying to be disrespectful, but I tend to brush off what non-educated people say about vaccines, because I know how hard it is to understand complicated research. Any resources you could give would be much appreciated! Thanks so much for your time.
    Sincerely,
    Marie Good

    1. Marie, If you would read the blog, you would see that the authors do frequently quote from immunologists, biochemists, and chemists (which I happen to be); and yes, several of them have written books and articles expressing concern about vaccines.

Your premise that apparently only someone who holds an advanced degree in a field can be “educated” on the topic is quite frankly false. Yes, there are varying levels of education, and of course it is up to the reader to determine how much weight to give a particular opinion. For example, in general I give less weight to the parenting advice given by a person who only has a 6 month old baby than to parenting advice given by a mother of many children…even though neither of them have advanced degrees in child rearing. Every day we are forced to form opinions about a variety of topics that we do not have an advanced education in, and that is just fine. Usually we do a pretty good job of making choices, and in a free society, can voice the information that led us to make the choices we made.

  14. I am so happy to have a blog that shares relevant and scientific information about vaccines. I wish people could understand the dangers attached to the many vaccines that are given to our children. Media is so quick to cause “fear tactics” that people are too quick to believe. God created our amazing bodies to heal themselves. It’s all the interference that makes us sick! I have truly never understood how all the people who are vaccinating their children are worried about my “unvaccinated children”. If the vaccine is working so well – don’t worry! I’m not!

Thank you for what you are doing – you have a beautiful family – God bless you all!

As an adopted person myself, I just wanted to respectfully ask you to reconsider referring to one of your children as your “adoptive” son. You seem like a thoughtful person, but I think you may not realize that it may be hurtful to him that you differentiate him from your other children in this way.

    1. In our family we consider the term “adoptive” a blessing. Our son loves that he is adopted. We love that he is adopted. The color of his skin differentiates him already. He is set apart. He was chosen. He was adopted. Thank-you for your opinion though.

I am a Christ following mom whose son also suffered adverse reactions to vaccinations as a child and has suffered most of his life with ADHD. Fortunately, I am a Practical Nutrition Advisor and have known how to feed his body, supplement him, detoxify him, and nourish him with activity, sunshine, and lots of love. He is now 18 years old and doing well, however, there are still some long term effects from the vaccinations. I applaud what you are doing and will gladly share your blog on my FB page so that others may benefit as well. Too many women that I come across don’t see the connection between so many symptoms(eczema, food allergies, hives, ADHD, etc) and vaccinations. Fortunately, there are methods of healing the body and giving life back to these families. I see the healing and testimonials on a weekly basis with my clients and my colleagues. Praise God.

And I want you to know it’s not too late to save your son from his allergic state: it can be cured with careful work. I cure allergic dogs and cats, and it’s neither easy not rapid, but it’s achievable.

Some that’s been very effective is the CEASE therapy put out by the late Dr. Tinus Smits: http://www.cease-therapy.com. See if it resonates with you, even though he’s talking autism, you can easily see the lateral into allergies and how they could well respond to the same therapy.

I’m so thankful that you stopped when you did and are boldly putting your truth out there, even in the face of ignorant opposition.

All my best to you and your lovely family. We raised a passel of healthy unvaccinated kids who are now grown, and we did it before all the furor, luckily.

I actually had a couple of weaning question for my youngest. We have decided as a family that we are moving towards more organic and less processed foods. My dilemma now is that we don’t drink cows milk anymore and that is what I had weaned my first child with. I have been trying to find alternatives to cows milk and keep getting different answers. The nutritionists and doctors are not helpful and living in a small isolated area I haven’t found any “good” nutritionists. Thanks!

I stopped once I was exposed to a lot of different info regarding vaccines. I have a 10 week old and haven’t had him vaccinated at all, but I would like to ask you so much! Right now, I feel like I am operating in fear. Fear to vaccinate and fear to not. My Pedi is very pro vaccines. I live in a rural area and have had trouble finding someone who would work with me on this.
